God formed every creature on this planet with a special area of expertise. How do we know this? In the Old Testament of the Bible, we are told, “Your hands shaped me and made me” (Job 10:8). Some animals run, some hop, some swim, some burrow, and some fly. They all have a particular role to play, based on how they were shaped by God. The same is true with humans. Each of us was uniquely designed, or "shaped" to do certain things.
하나님은 이 지구상에 있는 모든 피조물을 특수한 분야의 전문 지식을 갖도록 형상을 만드셨다. 어떻게 그것을 알 수 있을까요? 구약성서에서 우리는, “주의 손으로 나를 빚으셨으며 만드셨는데” (욥기 10:8)라는 말씀을 듣는다. 어떤 동물들은 달음질하고, 어떤 것들은 깡충깡충 뛰고, 어떤 것들은 수영을 하고, 어떤 것들은 굴을 파고, 그리고 어떤 것들은 날아 다닌다. 그들은 모두 특수한 역할을 하는데 하나님이 어떤 모습으로 만들었는가에 따라 그리한다. 그것은 인간에게도 마찬가지다. 우리 각자는 특정한 일을 하도록 독특하게 설계되었고, 혹은 “형상이 주어”졌다.

Before architects design any new building they first ask, "What will be its purpose? How will it be used?" The intended function always determines the form of the building. Form follows function, as they say.
건축가들은 어떤 새로운 빌딩을 설계하기 전에 먼저, “그 빌딩의 목적은 무엇이 될까? 그것은 어떻게 사용될 것인가?”라고 묻는다. 의도한 기능이 항상 건물의 형태를 결정한다. 소위, 용도에 따라 형태가 바뀌는 것이다.

Before God created you, He decided what role He wanted you to play on earth. He planned exactly how He wanted you to serve Him, and then He shaped you for those tasks. You are the way you are because you were made for a specific purpose, whether in the workplace, your home, or your community.
하나님은 당신을 창조하시기 전에 당신이 지구상에서 어떤 역할을 하였으면 좋을지 결정하셨다. 그분은 당신이 정확히 어떻게 그분을 섬기기 원하는지에 대한 계획을 하셨고, 그리고 나서 그러한 일들을 하도록 당신의 형상을 만드셨다. 당신이 당신처럼 된 것은 직장에서든, 가정에서든, 혹은 공동체에서든 특정한 목적을 수행하도록 당신이 만들어졌기 때문이다.

The Bible also says, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10). The English word "poem" comes from this Greek word which is translated, "workmanship." You are God's handcrafted work of art. You are not an assembly-line product, mass-produced without thought. You are custom-designed, a one-of-a kind, original masterpiece.
성경은 또한 “우리는 그의 만드신 바라 그리스도 예수 안에서 선한 일을 위하여 지으심을 받은 자니” (에베소서 2:10)라고 말씀하신다. 영어 단어 “poem(시)”은 “솜씨”라고 번역이 되는 이 그리스어에서 유래되었다. 당신은 하나님이 손으로 만드신 예술작품이다. 당신은 조립 라인에서 나온, 생각 없이 대량생산된 제품이 아니다. 당신은 주문에 따라 설계된, 독특한, 원본 걸작품이다.

God deliberately shaped and formed you to serve Him in a way that makes your work – and service to others – unique. He carefully combined your genes, the DNA recipe that formed you. David praised God for this incredible personal attention to detail that God gave in designing each of us: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous" (Psalm 139:13-14).

Not only did God shape you before your birth, but He also planned every day of your life to support His shaping process. David continues, "Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed" (Psalm 139:16, NLT).
하나님은 당신이 태어나기도 전에 당신의 형상을 만들었을 뿐만 아니라, 형상을 만드는 과정에 부합하도록 당신의 매일매일의 삶을 계획하셨다. 다윗은 계속하여, “내 형질이 이루기 전에 주의 눈이 보셨으며 나를 위하여 정한 날이 하나도 되기 전에 주의 책에 다 기록이 되었나이다” (시편 139:16, NLT)라고 말한다.

This means nothing that occurs in your life is insignificant. God uses all of it to mold you for your ministry to others, and shape you for your service to Him.
이것은 당신의 삶 가운데 발생하는 것은 어느 것도 중요하지 않은 것이 없다는 것을 의미한다. 하나님은 그 모든 것을 사용하셔서 당신이 다른 사람들을 상대로 사역하도록, 그리고 하나님을 섬기도록 당신의 형상을 만드신다.

God never wastes anything. He would not give you abilities, interests, talents, gifts, personality, and life experiences unless He intended to use them for His glory. By identifying and understanding these factors, you can discover God's will for your life.
하나님은 어느 것도 낭비하지 않으신다. 그분은 자신의 영광을 위하여 사용할 뜻이 없으면 당신에게 능력, 관심, 재능, 은사, 인격, 그리고 인생의 경험을 주시지 않을 것이다. 이러한 요인들을 알아내고 이해함으로써 당신은 당신의 인생에 대한 하나님의 뜻을 발견할 수 있을 것이다.

The Bible says you are "wonderfully complex." You are a combination of many different factors: "The people I have shaped for myself will broadcast my praises” (Isaiah 43:21).
성경은 당신이 “신묘막측하다”고 말씀하신다. 당신은 많은 상이한 요인들의 결합체이다: “이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나의 찬송을 부르게 하려 함이니라” (이사야 43:21).
